Guides of the Month (August)

Tellgarr – EQ

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
I wanted to help my fellow players. I wanted to make a difference and make sure that players felt that the Guide Program is still there and we are here to help in our little way. I have been playing Everquest since phase IV beta back in 1998 and after all these years I wanted to give something to the players.
  2. What games do you guide in? For how long?
    I Guide on EverQuest.
  3. What is your guide race and class?
I am a Wood Elf / Bard. THE ONLY race and class to play! Do not let anyone else try to convince you otherwise.
  4. What is your favorite color?
My favourite is red, well sometimes it's green, maybe blue. No it's definitely red to be more specific it's avant-garde red / royal red.
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)? Why?
My all time favourite zone is Lake Rathe. I remember spending hours sitting in the tunnel by the Aviak village near Arena entrance and watching out onto the lake and hills below and watch the sun rise / sun set. Watching the clouds fly by and imagine being there in person. You can almost forget your troubles and worries and watch the stars come out at night and think, what if only I could stop time and enjoy this forever...
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide?
My best time was when I got promoted to full guide status after being an apprentice for what seemed like an eternity. My favourite moment was when a player could not stop thanking me for helping them out for a problem. They kept in touch with me for days and weeks afterwards always greeting me when I logged on.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
I love doing the quest where I play a Royal Jester. It is during a Festival which are often in Norrath. I have been known to get carried away in my quest avatar to such a level that the players and guides get totally entertained. Last time we ran this quest on our server, I got so carried away entertaining the players I forgot the results had already been decided upon and my fellow guides were watching me amusedly at my enthralling spectacular display of talents.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide?
My worst moment of being a Guide was when other players ruin the fun and enjoyment whilst running a dynamic quest / event. The rudeness and plain abrupt tone, language they sometime use amazes me. Players do not realize that as Guides we have a limited amount of ability and we are restricted in what we can say and do. Often players assume Guides can solve all their problems instantly!
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?
I have been in a few events and quests. I have always enjoyed them thoroughly. My best event was when the Class specific Best of the Best events. I play a different time zone now and I have noticed it is harder to find guides at similar times.
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
The wide variety of zones and classes available. The quests, unique armor and focus effects which can be worn. The help and fun you get from interacting with other players, the friends I have made and who have helped me over the years makes EverQuest such a unique and personal experience.
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
I want to help and assist my fellow guides and players even more. I want to spread the word of how good the Guide Program is. I want to enrich the game play for players by ensuring all guides on our server endeavour to meet and exceed beyond the players expectations. The respect and trust you gain from players and fellow guides is beyond any measure I have come across in the 13 years I have been playing MMORPG's and I want to ensure it stays this way.

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
I really love this game, but the continual running through instances then became a bit boring. I hardly ever roleplayed as a player, I actually didn't even know about the Guide Programme, until I met a Guide on my playserver, who involved me in a little discussion. It was a great variety, and when I got the URL to the application site I instantly applied ;) I'm really happy about this, because I got to know this game in a different way by guiding.
  2. What games do you guide on? For how long?
    EverQuest II
  3. What is your guide race and class?
    Halfling of course, a swashbuckler.
    Halbling natürlich, eine Säbelrasslerin.
  4. What is your favorite color?
*looks at her clothes* Green of course!!
Ok, that was a lie... Black ;)
    *betrachtet ihre Kleidung* Grün natürlich!!
Na gut, das war gelogen ... Schwarz ;)
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)?
Uhm... There are many of those. I think nearly every zone provides it's appeal, whether the endless hills of Antonica, the huge trees and mushrooms in Greater Faydark, the gloomy Darklight Wood or the lovely sunsets in the Pillars of Flame... *lost in reverie*
Uhm...
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide?
That's hard to say. There are many nice moments, funny quests, great roleplays or even /tells from players who are glad to meet us. It's also great to experience when players, who perhaps don't roleplay that often, get involved with us and have fun.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
Wanna Grow Big - The little dragon that wants to grow up, or Adventures in Petsitting. I like the dragon illusion and these quests simply are fun everytime.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide?
What luckily doesn't happen often is that I wander through zones and get ignored - the little halfling is always a bit frustrated when she can't find someone to share a cookie with.
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?
Yes, I've defended my hometown against mysterious beings some times. However, since I'm a guide I hardly ever play myself, so I rarely run into such events. ;)
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
The community. I have met so many nice and creative people already, both as a guide and as a player - that's awesome. Oh, and the sunset in the Pillars of Flame is really awesome! *grins*
*grins*
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
One thing that I resolved to do right from the beginning and that still is one of my goals, is to put a smile on the face of as many people as possible, maybe even to make them laugh :-) Furthermore I'm looking for a new cookie-hiding-place, because mean gnomes plundered my secret cookie reserves and threaten me to shorten the cookie delivery. That would be unbelievably horrible.
