Did you know…? /guidehelp

Greetings, Norrathians! I'm Zieri, Senior Guide of Antonius Bayle here to talk about a great command available to EverQuest players: /guidehelp !

The other day, an adventurer had inadvertently sent a message to our Guide queue via /guidehelp. So, I contacted the hearty lad and we talked a bit regarding it, then he asked a question I seem to get a lot… "What is /guidehelp for, anyways?" Then I realized just how little information is out there regarding the command. I hope this Question and Answer article helps shed some light that powerful and helpful tool for the adventurers of Norrath.

Q: What is /guidehelp, anyways? I see it in the command list, and I've heard a Guide make mention of it before.
A: /Guidehelp is a Guide level queue designed for the players to contact us with feedback and requests, even if a Guide is not online at the time you send it. The syntax is: /guidehelp

Q: Feedback and requests? Like customer service requests?
A: Nope! Customer service requests still need to go through the petition system so that a CSR can look into it further. In fact, sending customer service issues to /guidehelp could slow down resolution of your issue, because CSRs don't see things going into /guidehelp.

Since Guides deal primarily with role-play and dynamic content, such as quests and events, we're looking for the following:

  • Dynamic Quest / Event feedback
  • Dynamic Quest / Event requests
  • Wedding requests and other Player-Run Event invitations
  • Requests for more information regarding the Guide Program
  • And general Guide feedback never hurts, either ("Thanks for all you do, guys!")

Q: And will I hear directly back from the Guide?
A: Definitely. The next time a Guide is online, they'll talk with you directly on what you submit, so you know we received the feedback and any points you wanted to make could be clarified or amended.

Q: What kinds of Quest / Event feedback are you looking for?
A: Any kind you have! Your feedback and requests could range from "That was a great quest, please run it again sometime" to "That boss guy at the end was too hard for conning light blue to us, he kept regenerating his hit points to full every tick!" to "Your events always seem to run at the same time, during my guild's raid, and we want to participate, but can't. Could you try doing some after 8pm Pacific?"

We like to hear what you liked about the dynamic content we've done, and what you want to see in dynamic content in the future. They could be quest ideas, event requests, loot ideas, or anything you want to provide. We take all feedback seriously, as these quests are for you, the adventurers!

Q: What about feedback on static quests?
A: Unfortunately, the Guide Program doesn't have any say over static quests, so please submit a /feedback so the developers can look into the quest.

Q: You mentioned general Guide feedback before… I really enjoyed one dynamic quest I participated in, but the Guide running it seemed out of character and very unprofessional, which kind of ruined it a bit. Can we send feedback on the specific Guides to /guidehelp, too?
A: No, but don't let that discourage you from submitting that kind of feedback to us. Feedback regarding specific Guides in the quests and events, as well as through standard interactions with the Guides, need to go to guideadmin@soe.sony.com. Anything specific on a Guide, whether really good or really bad, should go there so that it's taken care of and passed along appropriately.

Q: And you guys do weddings, too?
A: We're happy to assist in weddings or other player-run events. It's always a great thing to see the players help create an immersive environment for each other! Please note that we can't provide cool loot, be an NPC for you, or be a body-guard against monsters, and we may have some restrictions based on our schedules or where the event is to be held, but if you give enough notice ahead of the wedding or event, we can do what we can! The specifics of the Guide's role in any specific player-run event can be discussed at the time of the contact.

Q: I don't play EverQuest on the PC, but I do play EverQuest II (or EverQuest for the Mac, EverQuest Online Adventures, or Vanguard: Saga of Heroes)… I don't seem to have that command available to me. Can I still give dynamic quest and event feedback?
A: Of course! Any time you see a Guide online (or Knight, in the case of Vanguard), you're welcome to give this feedback directly to them in any of our games, even directly after the quest or event!

If you have any further questions or concerns on /guidehelp, you're welcome to contact your local Guide and they'll be happy to help you.

May the spirits of your ancestors guide your path, wherever it may lead!
