Guides of the Month (September)
Worty – EQ Why did you become a Guide? I became a guide because I started playing EQ in 2000. Then because I loved the game so much I decided to share my knowledge of the game and the great aspects of Role-playing with all the great people you meet in the world of Norrath. And boy 4 yrs. and going strong! That's not something to sneeze at! I would seriously think of being a senior guide if I did not work so many weird hours. My dream when this all started was to work for Sony Online Entertainment from my home as a Elder or Customer service Rep. And YES!! I would still LOVE!! for that to happen. Who could ask for more having a career as such. If Sony would allow me to do so I would cease my hectic IT technology job I have now and have had for almost 3 yrs. And work from home for Sony Online. What games do you guide in? For how long? Just EverQuest. What is your guide race and class? Well Old Worty was created on my first day of being granted the wonderful privilege of being a guide. He is a tree green type of old frog I would say. And yes he did start out as a cleric frog. But he soon evolved into a dual wielding warrior as the awesome guide swords were awe inspiring to look at back in the day. What is your favorite color? Well green of course! But I am also fond of the color purple as Worty if not wearing his white robe, does have purple armor. What is your favorite land (zone)? Why? I would have to say my favorite zone is still good old Butcherblock. The trees and the sounds of animals. And man some of the screen shots of sun sets I have gotten on the mountain tops. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide? Man this one is hard. As I have had so MANY memorable and fun times in this game. BUT my favorite moment was when I got the email stating I was accepted into the guide program. I was on the phone to my friends, and was chatting to one of my fellow players in the game and very good friend in real life, saying dude I got into the guide program! Was great! . What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of? I tell ya what there is more than one. The first is Item theft, this quest is so great! Then my very first ever ran quest EVER! I do still remember was Crazed dwarf! Yes after 4 yrs. I still remember. That was such a blast!! But yes Item theft is number one. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide? Hmmmm, well when I got removed from the guide program for some family issues that was happening. But there was also another cause too, that was someone in game-- Well lets not go there! As a player have you every run into any Guides and events? Oh yes. One was in east common lands. Man this giant dark elf was running through and killed everyone. It was horrible. But another I DO remember and will never forget, Was the Bixie invasion in commons tunnel, this was long long ago. I got my very first prized possession an evil eye bag. Back then in oh lets see 2001 that was a prize to be had. What is your favorite thing about this Game? The people the great people! There is also one other favorite thing. The memories! There are so many I could never begin to even say them all! And I will NEVER forget any of them. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals? Well yes! There are goals. One, continue to be the best I can be. Two hopefully become a Sony Online employee for EverQuest. And last but not least, remain a well respected and friendly Guide and player to all that play the wonderful game of EverQuest!!! Yarlawion – EQII Why did you become a Guide? Some day back in time I met a Guide on EQ who took the time to sit down and simply chat with me after he got me out of a very disastrous situation. In fact this was long before I finally sat down to file in my application at all so I do know how a player may feel about how to apply or not to apply. But finally I thought if I do think I can make a difference for other players I should do so - that was the day my application was sent - eventually. What games do you guide on? For how long? I do guide on EverQuest and EverQuest II. Ich bin Guide in EverQuest und EverQuest II. What is your guide race and class? Ah - what else could I be than a little, cute, adorable, funny gnome? But well - so it doesn't get too cute ... I chose to be an Inquisitor on EQII. What is your favorite color? Regularly I would say red - but hey! I am one of those wearing the green armor and robes! So of course - GREEN! What is your favorite land (zone)? Erm - that's quite a hard question. There are soooo many cute and nice places in EQII. But I do have a favor for the desert although it isn't that special at all. But please bear with me ... I can't prefer one zone over the other as they all have their very own spirit. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide? I still do remember those moments when I first joined the server and started to poke some ogres, tug on the tails on Kerran's and such. There have been some players almost waiting for me to log on to hunt me down for role-play. But to be honest ... I do think every moment I had so far as a Guide is so special to me ... it would be unfair to prefer one over the other. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of? Finally an answer I can answer easily *smile*. There is this one quest where we act as little baby dragons ... I can tell you ... fun fun fun! What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide? Sad enough that's a question I can answer also. It's been some time ago where I got a resignation email from one of my guides telling me chances are he won't be able to join the team again in the future because health is in total jeopardy and odds are not in his favor to recover at all but for it to get worse even more. I still could cry like a little baby thinking of this again. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events? Just a few in the past. As I do guide much myself it's not that easy to find other guides while playing. What is your favorite thing about this Game? The community it builds and my teams in the Guide Program. I met so many nice players and guides - I never want to miss any of them again! What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals? Well - if it comes to the Guide Program itself I do think I already have met one of my biggest goals. Becoming a Senior Guide and being in charge for the welfare of the Guide Program on my servers. In general: To always improve the players' experience.
