Guides of the Month (October)

Seana – EQ

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
I have always enjoyed helping others since I started playing EverQuest. In all honesty I didn't know what Guides did, but I came across the application and thought I would give it a try because it sounded fun, and a different way to help others in the game.
  2. What games do you guide in? For how long?
    EverQuest.
  3. What is your guide race and class?
    I am a Drakkin Monk.
  4. What is your favorite color?
Green or Blue, depending on my mood.
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)? Why?
There are so many zones that I like to just go hang out in, so this is a hard choice. I'd say as a Guide my favorite place would be the Tutorial, or Crescent Reach, meeting players new to the server, or on occasion new to the game. As a player I don't really have a favorite zone, but the old zones like Butcherblock and the Karanas always bring back a lot of memories.
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide?
I can't really name one favorite moment. Getting thanked by the players after we run a quest or just getting a thank you from a player when you are able to help them, even indirectly, those are always good moments.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
There are so many quests I enjoy, but I'd say the Festivals are my favorites, as they usually draw a large crowd and give the Guides a chance to work together more than the smaller quests that we always have available.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide?
ere are times when players do things that will ruin our quests for others that are trying to have fun with them. I think those are the worst moments to me.
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?
All the time! I always try to say hi to the Guides when I see them. I have seen a lot more events happening lately, and was able to participate in one just recently.
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
The friendships over the years, and the great memories. The people I play with, and guide with are what have kept me playing. It's all a game, but there are real people behind every character out there, and it is exciting to meet and talk with them.
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
Well, I'd like to be a Senior Guide. Even if that doesn't happen, I plan on being the best Guide I can be for as long as possible. I hope to continue to serve the players and make the game more enjoyable for them, and also making sure the Guides I work with are having fun as well.

Curella – EQII

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
I was having a lot of computer problems and found myself spending a lot of time in chat back when guides could still patrol the chat. There were always a couple of guides in the channel and a chat gm or two. After a couple of weeks of chatting with them I decided to apply so I could have a cool blue name and help people the way they helped me.
  2. What games do you guide on? For how long?
Currently I guide on EQII however I did start with EQPC.
  3. What is your guide race and class?
    I'm a Halfling monk
  4. What is your favorite color?
If I don't like green I'd be out of luck on our uniforms wouldn't I? Good thing its my favorite color, it goes so well with my hair.
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)?
Rivervale, because Dorethy was right, there's no place like home.
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide?
The month I gathered Guides from two servers to try to get our then Senior Guide Ainure voted guide of the month for both EQ and EQII was pretty rockin. We only managed to Get Ainure one Guide of the Month but the fellowship of two servers worth of Guides cross games was amazing.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
At the moment I'm loving Lost Pet Dragon. It gives players a chance to be truly imaginative as they attempt to lure me home.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide?
Logging on to find that a fellow Guide and friend had died is the worst moment I've ever had as a Guide. Unfortunately it's happened twice.
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?
Just like every other player I'm convinced that there are no guides on my server! Although I do at times see traces that they must exist. My play server guild hall has a lovely collection of decorative axes.
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
It's always changing, every time you turn around there is something new to make or someplace new to explore
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
Well I'm Training Coordinator now and I enjoy it. Many guides I've trained in the past are now Seniors and parts of the various teams and that makes me proud. I don't know that I'll ever move up I'm somewhat concerned about the time conflicts a server would have with an Aussie Senior Guide.
