Guides of the Month (November)

Fhizz – VG

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
To make the world a better place of course. Whether that was done by helping the gods answer the prayers known as petitions or wandering the world telling everyone about the wonders gnomes had created. Besides how could I ever convince them to change Crimson Fellowship to Gnomish Fellowship if there were no gnomes in the Fellowship??
  2. What games do you guide in? For how long?
I am a knight of the Crimson Fellowship on Vanguard (see above for what would be a much more logical name for the Fellowship). Once long ago in a place far,far away I guided on Norrath (Norrath 1 not Norrath 2). Had a disagreement with the gnomes there (who are distant cousins - distance can be a good thing when it comes to cousins) and moved to Telon.
  3. What is your guide race and class?
Gnome of course (my sympathies to all those not fortunate enough to be gnomes, but really you are valued, gnomes like to have people less fortunate to help out). All gnomes are classy. My personal interest is in inventing and recording gnomish history (inventing inventions, not inventing gnomish history by the way). Others though call me a sorceror for some reason known only to themselves.
  4. What is your favorite color?
What a silly question. GREY. What else could a gnome choose? The subtle shades of the cave walls, the bold greyness of the cave moss, and the wonderful grey pudding my mother used to make when I was a child (I still keep the recipe and make some every once in a while, I even sprinkle it with small bright crystals - though it is best not to try to eat those).
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)? Why?
Mekalia of course. No gnome would choose any other place. Even though I am not particularly welcome there at the moment (the problem with the roof over the menagerie was NOT my fault no matter what you might hear), Mekalia will always be home. I still sorely miss using the telescope in the mages guild to explore all the nooks and crannies of the cave ceiling (and just think of the things that might be discovered if they ever moved the telescope out of the cavern!).
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Knight?
Letting people know about all the wonderful things in the world that gnomes have invented or discovered. Did you know that there are actually people out there who do not know that gnomes invented fire? that much of the common language was developed by gnomes like the words "water" and "dragon"? Would pass those stories on here but they are unfortunately too long. Those with time for light reading though can pick up any of the thousand volumes of "A Brief Summary of Gnomish History" at their local library.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
The next one. Aside from gnomish history, which everyone should study for it's many insights into the world, there is no point in looking back at what you have done, only in looking forward to what you will do.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Knight?
Attending a gathering of knights only to discover that everyone else there was from the tall races and the part of my fellow knights that I would see most often was their belt buckles. And very plain buckles they are (couldn't someone at least engrave some interesting pictures or even inscribe a decent novel on the buckles??).
  9. As a player have you every run into any Knight and events?
Oh yes, I have run into knights before. Unlike myself, some knights pay little attention to where they are going and run into other people often. I have often thought that it might be helpful to put flashing lights on their horses so people could get out of the way in time.
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
Proudly watching the Gnomish Garden Brigade march out of Mekalia every spring to make their camps in the gardens of the world (and of course attending the welcome home celebration when they return every fall). Knowing that there are gnomes, the world over, quietly standing in gardens, watching er guarding the citizens of Telon makes me proud to be a gnome.
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
I hope to continue to spread gnomish culture and values to the rest of the world. In an ideal world everyone would be able to recite all the volumes of gnomish history from memory. That probably won't happen but one can always dream. Aside from that I will continue to invent interesting things for my fellow knights to do for and with the other citizens of Telon (things that others sometimes call quests or events though it escapes me as to why they are called that).

Zleck – EQ

  1. Why did you become a Guide?

Any zones with dragons in them. Cobalt Scar, Dragon Necropolis, Crystallos

Being able to help someone and the thanks afterward. I think that is the best time to be a guide.
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
I have always loved the Dragon Story time. I get to be a dragon and tell of grand adventures.

    Have not had one yet..
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?

Murazor – EQII

  1. Why did you become a Guide?
Well, I've been playing in the world of Norrath since 1998 at the launch of EQ1. Since then it has been a "love story" between EverQuest and me. I wanted to share this love I have for the game with other players by providing exclusive content that would make players love the game even more. And that's why I joined the program as it was exactly the goal of guides with their roleplay sessions and their quests.
  2. What games do you guide on? For how long?
    I guide on EQ2 only.
  3. What is your guide race and class?
I play a Dark Elf Shadowknight (with his face hidden by an assassin hood)
  4. What is your favorite color?
My favorite colors are the blue and green.
  5. What is your favorite land (zone)?
There are so many. All the open zones are great. If I had to choose, I'd say Timorous Deep or Enchanted Lands maybe.
  6. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide?
The most interesting event I ran was the wedding I celebrated of two female characters. It was an odd wedding as the two were (in addition to being female), disciples of Innoruuk who's the prince of Hate... Well the amount of RP and interactivity was appreciated by lots of players (more than 25) and it was a great great time!
  7. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of?
I particularly like "Lost Pet Dragon" or "Adventures in Pigsitting" or the celebration of the Bastille Day each 14th of July.
  8. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide?
My worst moment... When I became senior, I had to make (and translate) all the macro for the orientation sessions of future apprentices... I spent more than 3 hours typing macros ingame... that was really really annoying...
  9. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events?
Yes I did, and I really like it which lead me to join the program eventually.
  10. What is your favorite thing about this Game?
I love quests as a player and being able to give them as a guide is a true pleasure.
  11. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals?
As a senior, for the time being, I'm trying to promote the program on my server (which is still mostly unaware of our existence... the program has really been "active" for one year only, ) and populate the staff because we are still too few in numbers (only four for the single french server) . In the future, if I have more time, I'll maybe try to participate in the QEST team.
