Guides of the Month (May)
Ryleth – EQ Why did you become a Guide? In 2006 I met a wonderful Guide named Rorma. Until that day, I had never seen a Guide before, in fact, I didn't even know what a Guide was to be honest. Rorma told me what being a Guide was about, helping players, fun and exciting quests, interacting with people and getting to see a different side of the game. I was still in awe a year later, after seeing Rorma countless times in between 2006 and 2007 and decided I'd talk more about what being a Guide was like with her. She sat with me for what seemed like hours, and the awe in my eyes must have shown, because she said "you should try it, I think you'd like it". She gave me the Guide Application site, and the rest is, as they say, history. I remain in the Guide Program for many more reasons now then when I applied. The family here is fantastic, its a real honor to be able to enjoy the players in a different respect, its an absolute blast to see the joy and fun the players get when they see a Guide interacting with them and most of all, it feels good to volunteer to help out in creating an atmosphere that brings a twinkle to the player's eye. What games do you guide in? For how long? I currently guide on EverQuest Live. I have thought about adding EverQuest II, but at this time, just EverQuest in its original form. What is your guide race and class? Ryleth is a Wood Elf Druid. I chose this because Ryleth's persona is unique. Her tale tells of Tunare commissioning her to collect Ogre Toenail Dirt left behind to use as fertilizer for the precious saplings that need the added nutrients and collecting the Troll drool from various places to irrigate the forest floors. *grin* Yes, disgusting, but someone has to do it! What is your favorite color? My favorite color...well, as Ryleth my favorite color is Forest Green! As the crazy person that controls Ryleth behind the computer...her favorite color is a combination of Silver and Royal Purple. What is your favorite land (zone)? Why? As a Guide? – Whatever zone I'm in talking to players at the time. As a Player? – Uqua. The zone has always been and most likely will remain my favorite. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide? Oh geeze! So many to pick from, my acceptance letter into the Guide Program was a big one. Each and every time I'm out with the players enjoying some banter...oh there are just too many to choose from, I simply can't pick a "favorite" among all my favorites =) Lets just say, being in the Guide Program is my favorite. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of? My favorite quest is called Spirits of Old. It takes a group of players through a long journey throughout many Norrathian lands, fighting various elementals to collect things, all the while getting to know and enjoy the players doing the quest. It really is an awesome experience. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide? Least favorite moment – each time I need to log off to do something else after I've gotten into a really good conversation with a player. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events? As a matter of fact, a Guide is what introduced me to Guiding *.smile.* Aside from that, I hadn't ran into any Guide quests until, ironically just two days ago. I was offered a quest by a Guide in which I needed to do a bit of tailoring to complete it, it was exciting to be on the "other side" for a change *.grin.* What is your favorite thing about this Game? The social atmosphere, gaming is nice and it passes the time, but it wouldn't be any fun at all if it was just a walk to beast, kill beast, rinse repeat. The people and the ability to interact with each other is what keeps my attention and holds my enjoyment. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals? I have just been accepted into a new team within the Guide Program, so at this time, I'm concentrating on the experience that team is bringing me. I want to continue keeping the players that we serve happy, the Guides on my server team thriving, and just enjoy what I can of the Guide Program. Centily – EQII Why did you become a Guide? I love meeting and helping people. By being part of the Guide program I thought I could help others in the game. What games do you guide on? For how long? EverQuest II What is your guide race and class? Arasai, Guardian What is your favorite color? Blue What is your favorite land (zone)? I love Greater Faydark, it is such a beautiful zone. What has been your best or favorite moment as a Guide? I think my favorite moment as a Guide when a player who had been asking me about the program sent me a message telling me they had been accepted into the guide program. What is your favorite quest, event, or knowledge circle? What do you do the most of? Adventures in Pet Sitting. Watching the players with the baby dragons is so much fun. What has been your worst of least favorite moment as being a Guide? So far I've not had any really bad moments. But if I had to say something that would not be my favorite it would be a failed quest. As a player have you every run into any Guides and events? A few months ago I came upon two Guides who were thanking someone for helping the baby dragon return home. Everyone was so excited to see a baby dragon in Greater Faydark. What is your favorite thing about this Game? The people and the fact the game is ever evolving. The player base in EverQuest and EverQuest II is great. People may leave for a bit but they always return home. I've been playing with the same group of people for almost 8 years, we have came from EverQuest to EverQuest II, most of us met in the game and quite a few of us meet every year to see each other and celebrate our friendship. What do you plan to do in the future as a Guide? Any goals? In the future I plan to learn as much as possible. My first goal was to be a guide. Now I am a member of SWAT (Server Wide Action Team). Next I would love to become part of the SMT (Server Management Team) and eventually an Elder.
